Aunque intérpretes y traductores estudian vigorosamente y constantemente asisten talleres y conferencias para incrementar su conocimiento en una vasta gama de especialidades, la sociedad mayor aún no reconoce que son profesionales.

 

Por lo tanto, negocios, hospitales y agencias gubernamentales rutinamente emplean gente bilingüe como intérpretes sin asegurar que estos bilingües han tenido el adiestramiento apropiado.  Muchas veces esto resulta en consequencias graves, y la malinterpretación es lo de menos.

 

Para tratar de aliviar este problema, "Mano a Mano"ha preparado una presentación breve por internet para orientar al público.  Cualquier persona que utilize los servicios de un intérprete o traductor --y hasta intérpretes y traductores aspirantes-- beneficiarán de esta presentación.

 

Al final tendrá una oportunidad para imprimir un certificado como prueba que ha cursado este adiestramiento por internet.

Described and Captioned Media Program Free Program

The Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP) provides services designed to support and improve the academic achievement of students who are blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind. These services include (1) a library of free-loan described and captioned educational media, (2) a clearinghouse of information related to educational media access, (3) a gateway to Internet resources related to accessibility, and (4) a center for training and evaluation of any service provider desiring to appear on the DCMP’s approved lists of description and captioning service providers. There are no user-registration or service fees. The DCMP is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the National Association of the Deaf.
